Meet Precious Norman Walton, CPCU, SHRM-CP, TRIP, AIC, AIS, AINS, ACS
My passion for education was shaped early in my insurance career—and by one unforgettable classroom experience.
I earned my first professional license as a Life and Health Insurance Producer in Louisiana in 2005. As part of the licensing process, I attended a mandatory forty-hour pre-licensing course taught by the most dynamic instructor I had ever encountered. With a background in primary education, she transformed dense material into engaging lessons through storytelling, animation, and memory-building techniques that made learning feel natural—and enjoyable.
That experience stayed with me. When I passed my licensing exam with confidence, aided by songs, sayings, and visual cues that actually stuck, I realized something powerful: how information is taught matters just as much as what is taught. From that moment on, I knew insurance would be a long and meaningful career for me.
Over the years, I completed required continuing education annually—both in-person and self-study. While there were occasional bright spots, most experiences were dry, disengaging, and forgettable. I noticed a recurring issue: many organizations confuse subject-matter expertise with the ability to teach. Sometimes it works. Often, it doesn’t.
With over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, I’ve had the privilege of serving in multiple roles, including Property Catastrophe Adjuster, Director of Underwriting, and Agency Owner. Combined with my SHRM-CP certification in Human Resources, this diverse background allows me to design education that is not only technically sound, but also engaging, relatable, and human-centered.
That is why I created ELITE—to elevate professional learning by blending humor, storytelling, and real-world experience.
